Teen Athletes Gain an Edge Over the Competition

Eagle U Partners with Olympic Gold Medalist to Offer a Unique Program

“It doesn’t matter if you win or lose . . . until you lose.” This is the philosophy of Olympic gold medalist, Lanny Bassham, founder of Mental Management® Systems. After winning the silver medal at the Munich Olympic Games in 1972, Lanny went on a pursuit to find out what it would take to win the gold. What he learned was that most competitors don’t train for their mental game. Bassham developed a system of mental training called Mental Management®. Using this system, he dominated his sport of rifle shooting over the next six years, winning 22 world individual and team titles, setting four world records and winning the Olympic gold medal in Montreal in 1976. Lanny Bassham ranks third among all shooting athletes and is a member of the Olympic Hall of Fame.

In every sport, whether team or individual, there is a mental game. One’s success and ability to perform under pressure is exponentially improved by mental performance training. Strength, talent, and innate ability are only one part of the equation for peak performance. To be a champion, you must train like a champion. If you’re not working on your mental game, you’re training for 2nd place.

Lanny Bassham shares his secrets to success and how to have peak performance under pressure with high school and college students at the Eagle U Mental Toughness program in Denton, TX July 21-26, 2008. This is an incredible opportunity for young competitors to learn the Mental Management® System that Lanny Bassham has used to train thousands of professional and Olympic athletes. For more information about this or other Eagle U programs, please call 1-888-732-4538 or visit our website at http://www.eagleu.com.

For over 15 years, Eagle U has helped teens discover themselves and their true potential. From hands-on team exercises to interviewing influential people in the community, students are challenged to rise above mediocrity and discover their unique talents, abilities, passions, and their own initiative. Students leave Eagle U motivated to achieve their highest aspirations and with the self-confidence to open the doors of opportunity.

Eagle U Grad Seeks Support

Hello Fellow Eagles!!!

I am currently helping to organize the Fourth Annual Howard Public Interest Law Society (HPILS) Auction. The auction, which will take place on March 27, 2008, raises money for the HPILS Fellowship Program, which provides summer stipends to Howard Law students who take unpaid summer public interest legal internships. HPILS Auction organizers like myself are still seeking donations of auction items from supporters like you!!! While I realize that some of you are remote, the other auction organizers and I would appreciate any donations you might be able to offer, no matter how big or small. You can even donate money to the auction, which will also go towards the overall auction proceeds. If you specifically cannot donate to the Auction, you can provide me with the contact names of those who you think can. You can contact me at erutledge@hotmail.com.

I really need your support! Thank you so much for your time in reading this letter, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Take care,
Emily Rutledge

Journey of a Dream

Journey Of A Dream

A dream is born in the mind,
A picture of what might be
A vision of a new and better life.
But if it stays in the mind,
It becomes another wish unfulfilled.

It must move on.

The dream moves to the heart,
Feelings surround it, giving it life.
But if it stays in the heart,
It becomes a “could have been,”
Dying in the fire of emotion.

It must move on.

The dream moves to the hands,
There to be put into action
Having been given life in the heart,
It comes to fruition through work.
But if the dream stays in your hands,
It becomes self-serving.

It must move on.

So place your hand in the hand of another,
And the dream moves on…forever.

I have had the opportunity to take part in two Eagle U experiences, my most recent being the Masters program at Georgetown in 2004. I had just graduated from university, and was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. What I took away from those 5 days, has proven to be priceless over the past 4 years. I was able to achieve my goal of backpacking all over China and SE Asia for 4 months, and more recently, I started my own jewellery design business. All of my work is sterling silver and I make each piece by hand.

One particular exercise that has stuck with me was an exercise about the power of asking. I'm very proud of the fact that I've started my own business, and attest that to what I learned at Eagle U. If any of you are store owners or know anyone who owns a store that might be interested in carrying my jewellery, please pass this on. I stand behind my work 100%. I have been very successful here in Vancouver, BC, Canada, but I'm trying to further expand my business, and get my work into stores in the Unites States.

You can view my work at www.tamaraleslie.com. Please feel free to email me with any comments, join my mailing list, or if you want to share your story, I'm always interested in what my fellow Eagles have achieved.

Thank You!
Sincerely,
Tamara Leslie
